Organizational culture and styles may have strong influence on
project performance. An organizations degree of project
maturity and its project management systems can also influence the project.
Organizational
Structure:
It is an enterprise
environmental factor which can affect the availability of resources and
influence how projects are conducted.
Ø Functional Organization:
In
functional organization each employee has one superior. Staff members are
distinguished by their departments such as marketing, engineering and finance.
Each department in a functional organization will do its project work
independent of other departments.
Ø Matrix Organization:

Matrix Organization:
In
Weak Matrix Organization there are many characteristics of functional
organization. Project manager work as a coordinator or expediter.

Balanced
Matrix Organization:
In
balanced matrix organization project manager does not have the full authority
over the project and project team.
o
Strong
Matrix Organization:
Strong
matrix organization have many characteristics of the Projectized organization
and have full-timed project manager with authority and project administrative
staff.
Ø Projectized Organization:
In a
Projectized organization team members are co-located and most of the
organization resources are involved in a project work, project managers have a
great deal of independence and authority.
Ø Composite Organization:
In
composite organization full-time staffs from different functional departments
develop its own set of procedures, and work outside the standard and formalized
reporting structure.
Organization Process Assets:
Organizational process
assets include any or all process related assets, from any or all of the
organizations involved in the project that can be used to influence the
project’s success.
